College Admissions Speaker Series with Rick Clark, Executive Director of Strategic Student Access at Georgia Tech
Parents, guardians, and students are invited to join us on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 7 p.m. in the Forese Family Fireplace Commons to hear Rick Clark, the Executive Director of Strategic Student Access at Georgia Tech, speak about college admission. He is the co-author of the book The Truth about College Admission: A Family Guide to Getting In and Staying Together and its companion workbook that provides critical advice, thoughtful strategies, helpful direction, and invaluable reassurance during the long and often bewildering college admission journey. This book covers every important step: searching for colleges, creating a list of prospective schools, weighing financial considerations, crafting an application, learning what schools are looking for academically and outside the classroom, and understanding how colleges decide whom to accept. Helpful sections like "Try This," "Talk About This," "Check In," and "Extra Credit" show your family how to have open and balanced conversations to keep everyone on the same page, feel less stressed, and actually enjoy the adventure together.
Rick has also written articles for Forbes, appeared on Lisa Damour’s podcast, and has been interviewed by NPR and other national broadcasts and publications.
A native of Atlanta, Rick earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.Ed. from Georgia State University. Prior to coming to Tech, he was on the admissions staff at Georgia State, The McCallie School, and Wake Forest University.
